Race Day – April 28, 2019
- Wheelchair Division – 6:25am
- Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay – 6:30am
- 5K – 7:15am
- Kids Marathon – 8:15am
The Start Line is between 5th and 6th on Harvey Ave.
Runners in the Marathon will have 6.5 hours of course support starting from when the last corral is released from the Start Line. In order to complete the Marathon without being disqualified, you will need a pace of 15 minutes per mile. If you’re not to 63rd and Grand by noon you will be shuttled back to the Finish Line.
We use the Chronotrack timing system. Per USATF Rule 245.1, Open Men’s and Women’s and Master Men’s and Women’s top three awards in the Marathon and the Half Marathon will be based on gun time. Age group and Relay awards will be based on timing system time (the actual time elapsed between an athlete reaching the starting line and finish line). Digital clocks will be located at each mile and at the splits to indicate the unofficial running time. Official time is determined by the Chronotrack timing system.
NO ANIMALS, ROLLER BLADES, SKATES, SCOOTERS OR UNAUTHORIZED BICYCLES ARE PERMITTED ON THE RACE COURSE.
The Memorial Marathon and public safety officials ask the public to assist in creating a “No-Drone-Zone” along the course. The use of drones anywhere in the area of the course, including above runners, and spectators is prohibited.
Red Coyote Running & Fitness will provide pace group leaders for the following Marathon target finish times: 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:50, 3:55, 4:00, 4:10, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00, 5:15, 5:30. Finisher Shirts & Medals
Be sure to pick up your medal at the Finish Line. If you are a Marathon or Half Marathon you receive a finisher shirt by presenting your tear tag at the tent. You will only be able to receive your Full or Half Marathon shirt and medals for each event on Race Day. There will be no shirt mail-outs post event.
The Overall Open, Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and Wheelchair Champions will be given to the winners at the Finish Line. All other first place winners in each age group and Marathon Relay awards will be shipped after the event.
Medical & Emergency Plan
Please complete the medical and emergency information on the back of your bib number with a waterproof pen – this is very important. Medical staff is stationed throughout the course. Medical personnel will have Vaseline and are able to administer first aid.
Race and Medical staff have the right to withdraw any runner from the race who appears in distress or at risk. There will be a fully equipped Medical Facility at the Finish Line, staffed by a team of professionals. Please cooperate if you are asked to go for a checkup. Only runners requiring medical assistance will be permitted in the Medical Area. If you feel as if you need help at any point, please ask for it!
Race Day Cancellation, Alteration & Weather Policy
It is our goal to provide a safe event for participants, volunteers and our community. We will be diligent in not exposing anyone to any undue risk in the production and/or execution of the event. We understand the commitment the participants have made, however, decisions regarding race cancellations and/or alterations will be based only on participant and community safety.
When weather conditions or other physical conditions present a danger to the participants as a whole, we maintain the right to cancel the race. Less threatening conditions could cause alteration of the race, course or length of the race to further ensure your safety. The conditions fall under the “Act of God” – and will not result in refunding of race entry fees. The staging of an event of this magnitude places large financial burden on the organization prior to the event date.
Perry Weather Consultants monitors the course, at a street-level resolution for weather changes. We monitor temperature, wind, humidity, wet-bulb temperature, rain, lightning and severe weather.
