Planning for October 4th

July 15, 2020

We know you have been training in the summer heat and we wanted to get you an update on the OKC Memorial Marathon as quickly as possible.

With so many races cancelling and changes with COVID-19, we wanted to give you the status on the 2020 Run to Remember. I know this seems odd with numbers on the rise, but many health experts tell us our community health could look much better after Labor Day if everyone follows safety protocols.

We had promised you an update by early August, but we didn’t want to wait that long. We simply think it is too early to call the race, but I can promise you we are evaluating the facts daily. As you know, every decision has major implications and consequences, so we don’t make any without a lot of thought, discussion and collaboration with others. We encourage you to keep training while we continue to work on the race.

I hope this video answers some of your questions and please know there are hundreds of volunteers working behind the scenes looking for innovative ways to make it work.

We want to stand united as a community, please give us the grace of more time as we work toward October 4th.

In the meantime, we promise to keep you updated as we know more. Thank you for lacing your shoes up every day as we prepare to Run to Remember.
