Please join us for the Memorial Marathon Training Kick-Off Weekend, where we will be hosting 3 FREE events featuring Bart Yasso. Each event will be an opportunity for you to join the running community and start preparing for the October 2nd and 3rd race days.
SUNSET SOCIAL RUN
Friday, June 4 – 6:30pm
Join us for a short one-mile run starting in front of the Memorial Museum and ending at Social Capital near our NEW Finish Line in Scissortail Park! Bart Yasso will share best practices for race preparation. Our running club partners – Red Coyote, Landrunners, OK Runner, Yukon RAW, and WAHOO! Running will be available with information on their okcMarathon training programs.

COMMUNITY LONG RUN
Saturday, June 5 – 7:00am
Start your morning with a long run led by Bart Yasso! Start and Finish downtown at the Memorial. You’ll run a portion of the new course on this brisk 5-mile run. Photo opportunities will be available with Bart afterward.
KIDS RUN CLUB
Saturday, June 5 – 9:00am
Kids! Get started on your training journey. Our Kids Run Club will kick-off in front of the Memorial Museum to get you prepared for the 2021 Kids Marathon!
Bart Yasso will teach the importance of proper training and take us on a short run around the Reflecting Pool.
About Bart Yasso
Bart Yasso is known as the Mayor of Running and retired as Runner’s World Chief Running Officer. Yasso is the inventor of the Yasso 800s, a marathon-training schedule used by thousands around the world. He is one of the few people to have completed races on all seven continents from the Antarctica Marathon to the Mt. Kilimanjaro Marathon. In 1987, Yasso won the U.S. National Biathlon Long Course Championship and won the Smoky Mountain Marathon in 1998. He has also completed the Ironman five times and the grueling Badwater 146 mile run through Death Valley. He has also cycled, unsupported and by himself, across the country twice.
