Why We Run

As the primary fundraiser for the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, the Memorial Marathon is a unifying experience for the state of Oklahoma, as well as one of the most anticipated races in the country. Whether this will be your first marathon or you are a top athlete, it will be a Run to Remember!

Race Guidelines

Participants must be 16 years of age or older on race day to register for the Marathon, 12 years of age or older for the Half Marathon, and there is no age limit for the Relay or 5K. The Kids Marathon is open to all children 12 years of age or younger.

The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon has a No Refund/No Deferral policy. All entries are considered final. Transfers are not allowed. Anyone who allows someone else to participate in their place will be disqualified from the event and not be allowed to participate in future events. There are no exceptions to this rule – it is a requirement of our insurance provider.

Marathon runners will have 6.5 hours of course support starting when the last corral is released.
Half Marathon runners will have 4.5 hours of course support starting when the last corral is released.
5K runners will have 1.5 hours of course support starting when the last corral is released.

We use the Chronotrack timing system. Per USATF Rule 245.1, Open Men’s and Women’s and Master Men’s and Women’s top three awards in the Marathon and Half Marathon will be based on gun time. Age group and Relay awards will be based on timing system time (the actual time elapsed between an athlete reaching the starting line and finish line).

Digital clocks will be located at each mile and at the splits to indicate the unofficial running time. Official time is determined by the Chronotrack timing system.

NO ANIMALS, BACKPACKS, ROLLER BLADES, SKATES, SCOOTERS OR UNAUTHORIZED BICYCLES ARE PERMITTED ON THE RACE COURSE.

The Memorial Marathon and public safety officials ask the public to assist in creating a “No-Drone Zone” along the course. The use of drones anywhere in the area of the course, including above runners and spectators, is prohibited.

Red Coyote Running & Fitness will provide pace group leaders for the following Marathon target finish times: 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:50, 3:55, 4:00, 4:10, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00, 5:15, 5:30.

Red Coyote will also provide pace group leaders for the following Half Marathon finishing times: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:05, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, 2:25, 2:30.

Use the official Marathon App, this website or visit the Results tent for unofficial results. Official results will be posted to the front page of this website as soon as possible and will be printed in The Oklahoman on the Monday following the race.

The Overall Open, Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and Wheelchair Champions awards will be given to the winners at the Finish Line. Those for all other first place winners in each age group and Marathon Relay awards will be shipped after the event.

Please complete the medical and emergency information on the back of your bib number with a waterproof pen – this is very important. Medical staff are stationed throughout the course. Medical personnel will have Vaseline and are able to administer first aid.

Race and medical staff have the right to withdraw any runner from the race who appears in distress or at risk. There will be a fully equipped medical facility at the Finish Line, staffed by a team of professionals. Please cooperate if you are asked to go for a checkup. Only runners requiring medical assistance will be permitted in the medical area. If you feel like you need help at any point, please ask for it!

It is our goal to provide a safe event for participants, volunteers and our community. We will be diligent in not exposing anyone to any undue risk in the production and/or execution of the event. We understand the commitment the participants have made, however, decisions regarding race cancellations and/or alterations will be based only on participant and community safety.

When weather conditions or other physical conditions present a danger to the participants as a whole, we maintain the right to cancel the race. Less threatening conditions could cause alteration of the race, course or length of the race to further ensure your safety. The conditions fall under the “Act of God” and will not result in refunding of race entry fees. The staging of an event of this magnitude places large financial burden on the organization prior to the event date.

Perry Weather Consultants monitors the course at a street-level resolution for weather changes. We monitor temperature, wind, humidity, wet-bulb temperature, rain, lightning and severe weather.
